Latisse Could be a Promising Treatment for Thinning Hair

Thousands of people deal with hair loss each day. Whether the cause is aging, stress, hormones or because of medical treatment, hair loss is no party.

Now, men and women may have another solution to restore their thinning hair. Latisse, the drug known for regrowing eyelashes, is now in trials for use as a hair loss treatment.

Dr. Alan Bauman, a board-certified hair restoration specialist in Boca Raton, Florida who has used Latisse for a "couple dozen" of his patients, told Today Health, “Patients who were using it for eyelashes sometimes have eyebrow problems, so it’s a short hop to the eyebrows. So, of course, if it was working there, too – from the eyebrows, it’s just a short hop to the hairline.”

This certainly makes sense, but experts warn that the treatment won't work for those who have already gone bald, which may be disappointing to some, but hair transplant surgery is still a good option for these patients.

Stress from Divorce is a Culprit in Female Hair Loss

Marriage is synonymous with sacrifice, but when it comes to divorce, the level of that a person gives up skyrockets.

Loss of a partner, money, and time with children is enough to stress anyone out, but a recent study shows that divorce affects women and men differently.

While men tend to bounce back quickly, the stress seems to weight heavily on women, for long periods of time.

One side effect of divorce, according to the study, is hair loss. While it affected women, divorce is not a cause of hair loss in men.

Experts believe that a woman's state-of-mind and her health are directly connected, especially when it comes to hair loss.

Young Men Should Wait for Hair Transplant Surgery

According to a recent report by BBC News, men under the age of 25 should hold off on hair transplant surgery.

While men can start losing their hair as young as 18, many hair transplant surgeons warn against undergoing FUE or FUT hair transplant procedures until around the age of 30.

Why?

Because, guys, you may end up looking worse than before your surgery!

Dr. Bessam Farjo, hair restoration expert, explained to BBC, “If you have the surgery too early and you go bald, you don’t have enough hair to keep chasing the hair loss. You can end up with isolated patches of hair. You could end up with hairy temples and a bald forehead, which isn’t pretty, but is also hard to fix.”

Yikes! It sounds like waiting for surgery may be a smart choice!
